2Not user friendly
By JIMBO
I have a complete line of Pentair products. The Suntouch controller w/ remote, Intelliflow pump, 4000 series water filter, and master temp 400 heater. While I can recommend the others, the Suntouch controller is a piece of garbage. The worst part of the controller is the difficulty in using it. The menu navigation is poor, the options are limiting, and it is not intuitive in the slightest. I say this as an engineer used to less than user friendly systems. Programming the suntouch remote is difficult and not always successful. Just three years after installing the system, it looks like the circuit board has failed, or the firmware needs updating. My controller now turns on and off at random times and I have to cut power just to turn off the pump. The file to update the controller is free, but you have to buy a $500 dollar interface unit to reinstall. When your remote fails (i.e. bad battery), a simple task like turning on the spa circuit is not possible immediately. For some reason they neglected to include a spa circuit on the manual control menu so in order to turn on the spa, you have to schedule the spa to turn on/off in 15 minute increments and then wait. Just a PITA. There must be a better controller out there. I bought this because I didn't need much functionality and wanted a cheaper price. Don't make my mistake.

4Sun Touch circuit board
By gary
The product is working fine, but the included software version (2.040) is one version out of date. This means the manual agrees (mostly) with the menus of the SunTouch, but the on-line documentation corresponds with version 2.060...which has more user addressable features, e.g., priming time. Tech support says there is no method to update the software to the user location.

1Horrible User Interface
By Fairwinds Blowing
Jimbo's review nailed it. I wish I had read his review before buying this is a piece of garbage. The user interface is overly complex and leads you into making errors because the same thing, like a solar valve for example, is controlled under 2 or 3 different sub-menus. A simple, dedicated on/off switch would be a huge improvement. Also, the user manual is poorly written and leaves out information.
