4Works very well
By KevinKari
We are very happy with this pool cleaner. This is the model that does not require a booster pump - it works off your primary pool pump which saves on electricity and extra parts to maintain.

We have a smaller 15,000 gallon pool and this does a great job of keeping the bottom clean, it picks up leaves, sand, and silt. If you shop around online you can find VERY good deals on this model (we paid $300 after a $50 manufacturer rebate).

It does get stuck on our steps which is annoying, but after a few backup cycles it gets off and gets back to pool cleaning. It also has some jets in the back where you can adjust its motion. The tail at full blast does not whip around like some pool cleaners, but I imagine that is also because this model runs at a lower PSI than booster pump models, and the tail is weighted, and quite heavy.

We installed it ourselves, our pool already had a 1.5" dedicated return line for a pool cleaner, with a valve so you can adjust the pressure going to the cleaner. Installation was a snap, cutting and configuring the hose for the right length. When we deliver 20psi, ours is running right at the minimum 25rpm. I cannot imagine this thing running any faster than it does.

We chose between the Polaris 280, and installing a booster pump, or this one which we could do for much cheaper, and we are happy so far.

1Very disappointed . . . .
By Joe Palazzo
What a disappointment. I was satisified with my Polaris 280, but after 10 years and having to rebuild it every two years or so, my pool supplier recommeded the Legend II. That plus the fact that the Legend II cost about two hundred dollars more made me think that the Legend II must be a better product. As I said, what a disappointment. I've had it for two years and thought that I would wait to get more experience with it before I voiced my disappointment here. Well, the two yeara are up and I have only gotten more aggravated. This thing is a real POS. Whenever I use it, I have to be working out in the yard in order to keep an eye on it to be ready to untangle the feed tube, which keeps getting wrapped around the Legend. Almost every time it gets into a corner, it gets stuck at the waterline and just stays there spinning its wheels without moving. I have to stop what I'm doing and run over to untangle or push it out of a corner or beteween steps or at the junction of the feed tube plug on the wall of the pool.
The Legend II seems to be better made than the Polaris, but it just isn't worth the extra money or any money, as a matter of fact -- I'm going back to a Polaris; I just don't know which model to choose as yet. Two years of this aggravation is enough.

5I am so happy with this
By W. Dietrich
What a great pool sweep. I asked my pool maintenance man for a recommendation, and he did not hesitate: The Kreepy Krauly Legend was the only pool sweep he would recommend. I've used the Polaris (it always seemed to be broken) and the Phantom (it never worked right). The Legend puts those sweeps to shame. It completely cleans my mid-sized, built-in pool in about two hours. It also has a scrub brush on the end of the tail that actually cleans the algae as the sweep moves through the pool. How cool is that?

With other sweeps (the Phantom in particular) I always had trouble getting the unit out of the pool without a significant portion of the leaves and dirt falling back into the pool. Very frustrating! This doesn't happen with the Legend. Once the leaves get into the debris bag, they stay in the debris bag.

If you are replacing a pool sweep, I highly recommend the Legend. If you are buying your first sweep, please note that the Legend (and most other sweeps) requires its own booster pump, which can be quite expensive to install (I think our booster pump cost about $1,000 for parts and labor). Pentair does make a sweep (the Legend II) that runs off the pool's primary circulating pump; i.e., the sweep does not require a dedicated pump. I have not used the Legend II, but if you don't have a booster pump already installed, you might be wise to see if the Legend II is right for you.

Plus there is a $100 manufacture's mail-in rebate that runs until August 2011. I couldn't be happier.
